Welcome to Arrest Stories. A seventy-one-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly making false confessions to help a gunman escape following the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. Here's what may have happened.
On Monday, chaos erupted at Utah Valley University when Charlie Kirk was fatally shot during what appears to have been a planned attack. In the immediate aftermath, seventy-one-year-old George Zinn allegedly approached officers at the scene, shouting "I shot him - now shoot me" in what police describe as a deliberate attempt to create confusion and allow the real shooter to escape.
According to police reports, Zinn repeatedly claimed responsibility for Kirk's death, yelling to officers that he was the gunman. When an officer conducted a quick pat-down search, no weapon was found on Zinn's person. Asked where his weapon was located, Zinn allegedly responded "I am not going to tell you," maintaining his false confession.
During questioning, Zinn's story began to unravel. Police say he eventually admitted "he did not shoot the individual. He stated he did it to draw attention from the real shooter." Officers report that Zinn expressed satisfaction with his deception, stating he "was glad he said he shot the individual so the real suspect could get away" and that "he wanted to be a martyr for the person who was shot."
The investigation took a disturbing turn when authorities discovered Zinn's phone contained over twenty images depicting minors between five and twelve years old in various stages of undress and sexual poses. Police allege he had been sharing this illegal content with others through explicit messages.
Zinn has a documented history of disrupting public events and confronting high-profile speakers. In a particularly alarming incident from twenty thirteen, he reportedly contacted Salt Lake City marathon organizers asking if he could help set up bombs at the finish line.
Zinn is currently being held without bail on multiple charges.
All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
