Welcome to Arrest Stories. A fifty-five-year-old Minnesota man was arrested in Iowa after posting a threatening video filmed outside a high school that prompted three schools to enter lockdown. Here's what may have happened.
On Thursday, September eighteenth, twenty twenty-five, at approximately nine in the morning, the Kasson Police Department became aware of a disturbing Facebook video posted by Daniel Lewison. The video, posted at eight thirty-four that morning, showed Lewison standing in front of the bear statue outside Byron High School making threatening statements toward law enforcement officers, attorneys, judges, and counties.
"On September eighteenth, twenty twenty-five, at approximately nine in the morning, the Kasson Police Department was made aware of a concerning video posted on Facebook from outside the Byron High School," officials stated.
Initially believed to be a live stream, deputies later determined the video was actually recorded on Tuesday but posted Thursday morning. The threatening nature of the content, combined with its school location, triggered immediate safety protocols.
"There were some questions by us and by the deputies on scene, that the individual could have been at one of the other schools, based on some characteristics we saw in the video," an official explained. "But ultimately, it was determined that he did film it on Tuesday at the high school."
Three area schools immediately entered lockdown as a precautionary measure. Authorities launched an intensive search for Lewison, who was living in the Rose Creek area while on probation for previous offenses including a February twenty twenty-three conviction for assaulting a police officer.
The search extended beyond state lines when investigators discovered Lewison had violated his probation by leaving Minnesota. He was eventually located in Chickasaw County, Iowa, and taken into custody at six oh three that evening by sheriff's deputies and West Concord Police Department officers.
Officials emphasized that while the video was alarming, particularly given its school location, Lewison's "issue is not with the school" and he posed no direct threat to students or staff.
All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
