FORMER NBA PLAYER ARRESTED FOR BEING IN ONE FORBIDDEN LOCATION

Welcome to Arrest Stories. Former NBA player Isaiah Rider was arrested in Gilbert, Arizona on December fourth, twenty twenty-five for allegedly violating a court-issued protective order. Here's what may have happened.

Fifty-four-year-old Isaiah Rider, a former Los Angeles Lakers player, faces charges of interfering with judicial proceedings after Gilbert police officers allegedly found him at a location prohibited by an order of protection. The protective order had been obtained by his wife Vanessa in July twenty twenty-five.

According to court documents, Vanessa filed for and was granted the protective order on July third, twenty twenty-five, which prohibited Isaiah from contacting her and their fifteen-year-old son. The order also required him to stay away from their residence and his son's school.

In her filing for the protective order, Vanessa alleged that Rider had been verbally aggressive on multiple occasions and described multiple instances in which Isaiah harassed and abused them. She claimed threatening comments were directed at both her and their teenage son, including statements such as "You're gonna get your ass slapped" and "Shut the f*** up before I kick this door down and whoop you."

The arrest comes months after Rider filed for divorce in November twenty twenty-four. When contacted by The Arizona Republic, Isaiah denied the allegations, stating "She did this because I filed for divorce." He also told the publication that he was not arrested at a residence and contended the incident was not related to domestic violence, adding that the situation was more nuanced than the limited information Gilbert police provided.

Interfering with judicial proceedings is classified as a Class One misdemeanor in Arizona. The case was being routed to Gilbert Municipal Court, though it had not appeared on the court's website as of December eleventh.

All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
